Slam Response

This morning, December 15th, 2010, our class had a wonderful poetry slam. So Miss P, asked us to write a post about this slam.

 a) What did you learn from Greg and Beth Ann (the slam poets)?

I learned to be proud of my work no matter what. And even If you mess up with your poem no one is going to realize because you're the only one who knows. Other than that, they thought us about the cadence that different people have in the way they preform their poems. I also think that also cadance can change according to the emotions and words in the poem.

b.) When writing your own poem, what did you use as inspiration?

First of all. my inspiration was a movie that I watched once about ladies selling their bodies  for a pay and then turned into violence. Second of all. Facebook was one of my inspirations too, because before I got down to my poem I was checking my Facebook and found a lot of swearing (nasty language) going on in almost everything other post I read that was on my news feed. Third of all, war that is going on in my country and other places in the world. They really should get a lot of care and thought to those ones in violent wars and life a really harsh life.

c.) What are you most proud of from your poem or your presentation of it?

The most thing I was proud of from my poem is that this is my first poem with a lot of rhyming in it which made it flow more for the listeners and it also made sense at the same time. And the thing that I was proud of from my presentation was that I didn't mess up that much I might have messed up a little but I think I managed to make it not too obvious so that is one thing I was happy about. I also wasn't that nervous when I got up and I was pretty calm so that helped as well.

d.) How did you feel before you performed?
I felt I bit nervous and I was shaking as well. But as I got into the poem, I was pretty calm and excited and flew into the world of poetry.

e.) How did you feel AFTER you performed?
I felt really pumped up and I wished I had more poems with me to preform!

f.) What would you change about your own poem or performance for next time?

I would try to fully memorize it so my performance would have been better rather than me having to look after every stanza to make sure what's next.

g.) What did you learn/like about someone else's poem?

I really liked and learned something from everyone's poem. Each person in the class had a really wonderful message in their poem and was very fluent and touching.

MY POEM:

I was walking down a path, so hoary with many puddles
I tumbled, I crawled, and I managed to slip through the crack,
I managed to handle the troubles.

I encountered hate, I encountered love, and I encountered violence,
And violence and another great deal of violence.

Not talking about the violence you touch while trying to play the violin
But the war violence, the world's violence,
Why can't peace be our next of kin?

You call it a joke, hitting became a joke, swearing on people became a joke,
Bullying became a joke.
Violence has become an issue.
It can be acted not just spoke.

I went on the cyber world,
I found ever line had swear words, people writing in backwards.
Nasty passwords.
Can't violence be recorded in your passports?
Oh, sorry, I made a mistake it's only there for transports and airports.

I encountered hate, I encountered love, and I encountered violence,
And violence and another great deal of violence

Thought I'd shake it off by watching a T.V show,
Reporting 2 bombs is Palestine,
300 lost bodies in Afghanistan
My mind got blown, violence has grown, planes on postpone.
Other than that, we're feeding violence with our nasty language on the cellular phone.

So now I dressed and walked down the road,
13 years-old girl with a pocket knife,
16 years-old boy with matches and gas and burning public places calling it fun
20 years-old  dude with a gun,
Do you call this a normal life?

I encountered hate, I encountered love, and I encountered violence,
And violence and another great deal of violence.

Now I crawled into bed, thinking about what I saw,
It burnt threw me like getting cut by a bear claw.
It dropped my lower jaw.
Violence seems like common law.

My eyes went shut, found the same story, my violent day.
Ladies selling their bodies for a small pay.
Is this what we want to live with?

Every time in my dream I try to stop it,
I seem to be too weak; I am smaller than the violence's smallest width.

I encountered hate, I encountered love, and I encountered violence,
And violence and another great deal of violence.

321 Slam Poetry workshop respone

3 things that you are looking forward to learning, developing or using in your poetry over the course of our Slam workshops.

  • To learn how to fit so many different vocabulary with the same syllables and put them together to make a sense and project a vivid image in the reader's head.
  • I would like to develop my choice of similes to make them more poetic and pictorial.
  • I would also like to work on not getting nervous in front of the audience.

2 things that Greg or Beth Anne reinforced that we have already been doing in class, or you are already using in your own writing.

  • A poem don't have to rhyme to be a  poem. They also said that any type of text is poetry, so basically now I am typing a poem and you are ready a poem too!
  • Don't be ashamed of your work. Always be proud of who you are and your capability.
1 poem that you wrote yesterday.

Heart is the pumper in the humans body
pumping every kind of feeling
Erupting to the other parts
pumping and revealing
revealing that it's the bank for multiple things

not only vitamins , blood and cells
but also an eraser for thoughts, pain and swells
It's the main feelings bank
can hold more than a car's oil tank

It can be broken in emotion but not in reality
who ever thinks that isn't going through mentality
they sure know it's only a way for spirit to be evoked
I repeat it's just another word for emotional broke

Professor Scott 2nd Visit!

We are honored to have a Great historian/ storyteller to come to our class and talk to us about history. He tells history as if he's telling a story. It's Great! I am just reflecting to Miss P about  his 2nd visit to our class.

What did you learn ?

-First  cotton mill was created in ,1844, in Quebec.

-Canadians were the first to invent many things. (something we should be proud of!)

-Colonel John By is the genius who built the Rideau Canal.

Which technology interested you?

Telegraph is the technology that interested the most.

 How did it impact society?

-Without morse cod and telegraphs we would have no telephones or any other way of communication.

-The telegraph lead to phonograph, telephone, then radio,  and then photography and then the other media in these days such as TV, Internet.

-It impacted our society in many ways such as:-  It was a small machine that worked with dots and dashes. (in the picture below)

This is my name in morse code:
....   .-    -.     .     .   -.
(H)  (A) (N) (E) (E) (N)

- It was only a small machine and then went through changes with time and generations to become more advanced. This lead to the advanced ways of communications we have now.

Tie into a big Idea.

I would tie this into our BIG History idea; Every big event begins with a small step.
I would tie it into that one because without telegraphs, automobiles, etc,we would not have had those advanced technologies. So every big technology started off as a simple machine.

AWESOME THING #1001!

After exploring  1000 Awesome things, seeing old people holding hands is the  most awesome thing that happens to me.

Seeing old people holding hands brings back hope into me. Two years have passed now, and I can't find the person that likes me in return. So seeing old people holding hands brings the hope back that I will find the right person one day and we will be doing the same thing when our hair becomes white as snow and curly.

The first thing every person says when they see old people holding hands is "AWWWWW"! When I see old people holding hands the phrase that comes to my mind is "Hope they'll live longer, and grow the love more and more. And thank you for pouring hope back into me."

THANK YOU OLD PEOPLE! I hope love grows in every heart with every heartbeat!

#364 When you get caught in the rain and you just don't care Is my second AWESOME!

Getting caught in the rain is one of  the best feelings ever. If just feels that it rained just for YOU.  It's a gift from god. It's  like you have been blessed. This is also a good way to brush off the thoughts that have been going on on your mind all day. It's just awesome!

#362 Not making plans

It's just amazing. Making plans don't always work out. I Just like to go with the flow. Just like mummies, they're so light that they fly with the smallest wind blow. It's also like canoeing without paddles; the water is your paddles.  The best thing is to let life navigate you.

Hope you guys enjoyed my AWESOME post!

BOOST UP YOUR SELF ESTEEM PEOPLE!

Hello Fellows!

I am writing this to tell you BOOST UP YOUR SELF ESTEEM PEOPLE!
Everyday, you look in the mirror and say some of the following:- (don't deny it because we all do it!)
1. I wish I was prettier.
2. I wish I was skinnier.
3. I wish I didn't have that pimple.
4. I wish my hair was longer.
5. I wish my body was more muscular. (for boys)
6. Oh my god! I am having a bad hair day!

There's a lot more than that. Here's a little tip my friends. Whenever you look in the mirror just think of one thing, that you're fabulous just the way you are!

If people try to put you down by saying mean things to you, just think of one thing. You are who you are. People who actually like you, would accept you the way you are no matter how good or bad you look! Acceptance is one of the relatives to love. If you love the person, you have to accept them.

People who change the way they look or the way they act to please others have no clue where that can lead them! Here's a quote I made up about changing to please others.

"Never change to please a human being. Otherwise, YOU'RE losing and THEY'RE winning."

This is true! First of all, if you change the way you look just to please someone, you're losing yourself and losing your natural beauty, and the way people were used to you. Second of all, if you change the way you act, people are going to notice it which might reflect an image about you that you have a low self esteem! This is something you absolutely don't want, right? Third of all, you're not being yourself! Just be yourself and don't give attention to what people think.

I hope this helped people who change to please others and forget about who they are!

BE YOURSELF PEOPLE!

Hope Poem

My reading buddy Anna and I were asked to write a poem about hope.
Enjoy!

Hope with every breath
Forget about the past
hope for what's coming next

Make it from the heart
start over
if you messed a piece of art

Hope for the coming up step
to be better
remember to hope
even when you read a death letter

Joy, perseverance, happiness, dope
does this look similar to you?
yes, they all relate to the same feeling
HOPE!

The Unknown Feeling

The sky is coal dark
The heart is frightened
But the scene is calm for the mean while

I am settled on the cool sand
With shallow rocks in my scorched hands
Threw them into the world with mystery in its creation
The world that knows no celebrations

The world with no celebrations
The deep blue sea
Where you live in freedom
No taxes or fees.

Blue mist
Wakened up my brain cells
Like oyster beige shells
No swells

Those shells make it tricky
To leave foot prints
I am the princess
I waited for my prince

My prince wasn't a human being
Nor a man
he`s the molten gold
that`s on a visit at the other side of the world

Left me here with the moon
I anxiously waited for my afternoon
I threw stones with all my might
Hoping for the prince to rise
Mumbling my wish
Feeling like I am in heaven
Just looking at the dances of the fish

Letters Of Remembrance.

World War I
November 9, 1917.

Dear Alexander,
I felt I must write to tell you how much I miss you. I miss your smile, your warm hugs, and the feeling of being around you. I miss it when you use to hold me tight at night. Where you at right now? I haven't heard from you in a while.

Here back home, it's dull. Dull as pennies from the ancient Greece. Every night, I call you down for dinner to here nothing but my heart beats, and it's gone as the sound of my tears drip on the table. And I soak the table as I imagine you getting soaked in these terrible trenches. I go insane as I think what I would do if you're gone! But I will be fortunate that you gave away your life for the country's freedom. I feel the gloominess running through my blood as the war goes on and on and feels that it has no ending.

Don't worry about me, Riley and Zach back home. We're all fine. However, we miss you! Riley's grade 6 graduation is soon and she's always asking me if you're going to be there. I can't help but conceal my tears and say "lets hope he'll be back home by then". Write back soon.

Your dearest wife,
Jacqueline.

P.S I love you.

321 Questions

I am replying to Ms. P about the field trip we were on this Friday to the Museum of Civilization.

3 specific thing you enjoyed overall

- The enthusiasm in the actors in the "Trick of Truth" Program. It really got everyone into it!
- The oldest artifact in Canada and the real Beaver hat. It was very interesting!
- When we had to dig in the sand boxes to find some artifacts. It really got me thinking how hard they have to work and we were struggling with a small sandbox!

2 Important things you learned

- Archeology is a tough job but very interesting and needs a lot of deep thinking.
- Inferences that we make in class are not pointless. Archaeologists make inferences about the artifacts they find. (how old are they, and what were they used for!)

1 Thing that you would change

One thing that I would change that some students should have behaved a little more than they did.

Quote of the day. November 4th, 2010.

I wrote rhymes to let the thoughts escape, to everyone out there, on land or in space.

Quote of the day. November 2nd, 2010.

I split my souls into two, one is the real me and one what others expected me to be. Years passed by... The other part of my soul dashed back saying “I am tired of this, every day I listen to the same sound track"!
The real copy asked, "What sound track"?
"The track about reaching success, but haters pushing me back"!

Mystery History Maker

This Friday, November 5th we are going on a field trip to the Museum of Civilizations in Quebec. In order to prepare for the field trip were asked to do this assignment about a "Mystery History Maker", (try it, its super fun!).

My Mystery History Maker is James Naismith! (Click on the name James Naismith for more information).

I was able to identify my mystery history maker from the sound effects of a basketball dribbling before the picture was revealed!

I was really happy to see that my history maker match was with James Naismith. There are a bunch of things in common between me and him. First of all, the most common thing that caught my attention was believe in building character through sports. I really believe in that too! For example, before I started playing basketball I thought I was the worst one on the team. However, eventually, I started to build up this character of the "confident" basketball player.

Second of all, playing a lot of sports. I am a very active person too! I play basketball, soccer, handball, and kickboxing. I used to play Karate too. Third of all, we both have two brothers. I have two wonderful but crazy brothers that drive me nuts all the time!

One more thing that caught my attention is that one of the reasons why he made it up was to keep his students from being bored. We thought back then that all the students did was study and never had time to do fun stuff like we do in our days now.  Overall, I found out that even back then, teachers were using their creativity to invent things that prevented boredom during education and tried their best to make it fun!

Karma - The Last Emperor. (My favourtie song of all time)

Click here for the actual song.

(Chorus) (Last Emperor)

Over and over and over and over again now
Over and over and over and over again now
(Over again)
Over and over and over and over again now
(For all the women and men)
Over and over and over and over again now
(Here we go again)

[Verse 1]
He was a fly young cat, 23 to be exact
Ready to conquer the world fresh out of the pack
Comes from a small town, wrong side of the tracks
But somehow, he managed to slip through the cracks
He writes rhymes to escape what was awful and evil
Walks a fine line between lawful and legal
Seen a lot of bad times, there's a lot of good in him
Been around the world and still got the hood in him
If he carried a tech, would you call him a schemer?
If he sounds far fetched, would you call him a dreamer?
Stays true to himself, so he's not a deceiver
He found a lifetime job of making you a believer
Every now and then he would stare into space
And maybe think about if he had what it takes
He thinks about the hood and why he had to escape
And the family he left in that desolate place
It could be you or me or any man
Driving a sports car or a mini van
These are the aspirations of certain men
Who leave the neighborhood only to return again
Come on

(Chorus) (Last Emperor)

Over and over and over and over again now
(I know life around the way is hard)
Over and over and over and over again now
(You got a family, they need you God)
Over and over and over and over again now
(The aspirations of certain men)
Over and over and over and over again now
(Leave the neighborhood only to return again)

[Verse 2]
She was a sweet young thing, tender age of 20
Comes from a poor family with no money
Two children of her own, she never let them go hungry
There she is, all right you go honey
Early in life she had a chance to win
But she chose to put her future in the hands of men
Ever since her first love she was sure she could handle it
But in the end all she got was abandonment
Over and over again they seem to use her
From jerk to creep and from creep to loser
Come on mami, who would treat you like a friend?
You need somebody, when will the cycle end?
Another break up, you don't really love him girl
You better wake up; you're in trouble girl
But in her dreams she's a queen in another world
Easy, breezy, beautiful, cover girl
On the runway to Mr. Lover Man's charms
She breaks away from Mr. Lover Man's arms
And just when she was sure she had enough of men
She turns around and falls in love again
Come on

(Chorus) (Last Emperor)

Over and over and over and over again now
(Damn girl, why you got to go though this?)
Over and over and over and over again now
(I watch her stand there emotionless)
Over and over and over and over again now
(When nobody else noticed it)
Over and over and over and over again now
(Ooh, the sad songs from the vocalist)

Please embrace these stories
That have been placed before me
From hatred comes warring
From goodness must come glory
What is it I wonder
Some honor, some conquer
Different day, same drama
Remember it is karma

[Verse 3]
There's an old gray couple living right upstairs
Mid seventies, seemingly no cares
Always seem happy I can only guess why
Cause they barely getting by off the SSI (Hah)
Over the years their love affair grew
It was meant to be and some how they both knew
He said pray for me and I'll return to you
She waited faithfully during World War II
It was a hard time for a young couple just married
But they held on to the love they both carried
She read his letters telling her to stay strong
And on the phonograph played their favorite song (Yeah)
There were times they thought their love wouldn't make it
But like that old record, hard times couldn't break it
An old dusty record that they still hold sacred
And every anniversary I still here them play it
Yeah

(Chorus) (Last Emperor)

Over and over and over and over again now
(It was an old love affair)
Over and over and over and over again now
(Stand strong and they take it there)
Over and over and over and over again now
(Yes yes y'all)
Over and over and over and over again now
(We turn around and one day it's gone, come on)
Over and over and over and over again now
(I see you staying there)
Over and over and over and over again now
(Some times you got to take it there)

Quote of the day. October 27th, 2010.

Grew up in world with no innocence, I learned from mistakes, I took a lot of hate, but I am thankful, it's part of my intelligence.

You can't blame the plant the way she was planted, the plant is different... Her excuse was transplanted, the soil was different, and  she couldn't stand it. She was fed hate, she was fed act like you're rich, act like you're older... She can't stop; her bad soil was recorded in her folder.

Don't look at someone happy and say I wish I was as happy as you, or got everything I want like you did. Because God knows what makes you happy so don't hesitate to do something that you know is right or regret anything that once made you smile. So say Thank you god for everything and everyone you gave me!

World Of Work!

This is an assignment our teacher assigned us, it's about our trip to the World of Work this Wednesday!

Here is  a link for more Info!

1. Do some research on these sectors.
Construction Sector, Design & Manufacturing Sector, Service Sector, Information & Technology Sector and Transportation Sector.

2. Which sector appeals to you the most?

I am still young, and I am still unsure about what I want my future to look like.
I am the type of person that likes to try a large variety of new things. However, I think the the most sector that appeals to me to me the most is the Service Sector.
In the Service sector, the job I would most likely pick is Child and Youth Worker.
I really enjoy working with kids and and especially youth when I grow up for many reasons.
First of all, us youth are very important these days. We are the on developing this world in our talents and creativity. (This is one reason we are the doing the assignment on our talents and creativity)! I would also love to help them  develop their self esteem, and to be proud of themselves no matter what.

3. List at least three specific jobs for each sector (5 sectors x 3 jobs each = 15 jobs listed)

Construction Sector:
  • Carpentry

  • Automation & Control

  • Landscape Gardening

  • Information and Technology Sector:

    • Electronics
    • Graphic Design
    • Web Site Development

     Design & Manufacturing Sector:

    • CNC Machining
    • Industrial Mechanics Millwright
    • Robotics

    Service Sector

    • Baking
    • Cooking
    • Youth and Child Worker

    Transportation Sector

    • Aircraft Maintenance
    • Auto body Repair
    • Automotive Service

    4. What do you hope to learn more about on our field trip? Write at least 4 questions you have.

I would like to know more about the different jobs out there, and how are the related to our school work?
I hope it will give a hint of what I might want to be in the future other than the ones I have on my mind. For example, lawyer, animal genetic engineering, and a poet. (A poet sounds more of a hobby)

    Questions

    - Is it possible that of the sectors is  related to one another?
    - In each sector, is there a main job that the other jobs branch off from?

    5. What pathway do you plan on taking after high school? College? The world of work/trades? University? Why? What do you specifically want to do as a career (or careers!)?

After high school, my pathway is definitely University! I am looking forward to get a high degree as a surgeon or a lawyer or any other thing I might be interested in as I grow up. I might go to College later on to develop my terrible writing, since I am really into poetry!

    7. Link back to the sites where you found your information at the bottom of your post under the heading: References

    References:
    -Google! (for images)

    Have a fabulous trip everyone!

    How Am I Creative

This is an assignment about our talents and creativity.
So Ms. Pollock asked us "How are YOU creative?"
It's time to reveal our miracles!

"I married pen and paper, I wrote with glass and vapor, I'll write till my last breath, it's beauty is in it's depth."

I found this in my heart yesterday. I didn't really dig in my heart but it erupted like lava from a volcano.
I am still young but I have experienced a lot already. However, one of the most strange things that happened to me are my eyes see things bright but transforms them to bull and dark. Not necessarily I don't see, But whenever I see a happy day I think about sad things. I can't control it, it's just the way i am.
Here is a poem I wrote last week about this feeling.

P.S I am not writing this to tell you about my problem. Poetry is just the was I can best express what i am feeling. Enjoy!

    Brightness Transforms to Darkness

No matter how hard your heart and hopes have been broken, that means one day you have strongly and fearlessly spoken.
Shattered glass, shattered souls, hearts bleeding. Oh so gross!
For water you have to wait in line. To see then sun  you have to wait in line.
Years ran by and summer has passed, and still... no green grass.
Bright  worlds are freezing cold, why darkness is where you feel the warmth?
    In this bright world...
No one is smiling, winter is here but kids are home, never seen them sliding.
I am sick of this, tears can't make it.
In  my eyes they were pressed.
My eyes, where everything seems the normal and no cancelled flights.
It enters my eyes to transform to a terrifying night.
I see no love,  I see no couples.
I see singles that once have suffered.

    -Haneen

Here is another poem I wrote about a poet visiting our English class.
His name is Khaleefa Hamdan (ApollotheChild) .
He is twenty but his words mean plenty.
You will also find this poem in his blog!
    Enjoy!

    Gold Mass
A poet visited our class, his words weigh gold mass.
Letter after letter cut through my heart like shattered glass.
Meanings flew around my mind like a song on a jazz band.
We weren't like a band, don't misunderstand, it was a meaningful class.
It was a linked circle of some lazy turtles that didn't move.
    Hey! I’ve got some proof.
He's only twenty, he has experienced plenty.
    His experiences are his topics.
From the arctic to the tropics.
He touched hate, he touched love, he touched joy, he touched heartbreaking, and he touched confusion.
    Still it's not my conclusion.
He's a role model for every youth, it's not a compliment, and it’s just the truth.
We asked questions, we got some tips, we made some jokes.
    He's Amazing folks!

Poetry is not my only talent!
I am also a basketball player too. I've been on the school's team since grade 5!
I also started going to a sports club and practicing since the end of school year of grade 3.
I am also known as a good defence!

I can also sing but I am not that good.
I've preformed to many friends and they liked it.
I think I am OK at singing, I am not too good, or too bad.
I also like singing and annoying my siblings when I am working!

    Brightness Transforms To Darkness.

No matter how hard your heart and hopes have been broken, that means one day you have strongly and fearlessly spoken.
Shattered glass, shattered souls, hearts bleeding other than that, lost feelings.

Years ran by and summer has passed, and still... no green grass.

Quote of the day. October 20th, 2010.

Love and hearts are pearls and shells, once the pearls are out, there's a risk of them being dull and broken.

It Gets Better - Part 2

A couple of weeks ago we had a GREAT discussion in class with Ms. P about LGBTQ bullying.
I have written a poem about bullying, and it really went through me as I was writing it.

Tomorrow, October 20th, is Wear Purple Day!
We are wearing purple to support those people's individuality and in memory of the young men who have taken their own lives because of LGBTQ bullying.
I think it is very important to support those young men for many different reasons.
First of all, everyone has the RIGHT to be treated properly whether they were LGBTQ or have different skin color or short or tall or different in any other way.

"We're all beautiful and unique in our own ways, but not everyone realizes it."

Second of all, Standing up against those young men, and the ones that are stewing it in their brains is remarkable.
Those people who have taken away their lives deserve better! How are they going to affect you by the way they feel, or the way they make their life decision? It's their life, not yours!

Third of all, put yourself in those people's shoes. Not necessarily wearing their shoes but imagine yourself in their spot! How would you feel? Are you going to make the same decision? Will you feel the way they felt?
    The answer is no.

The answer is no, because you are the ones hurting them. You are just not able to recognize how much influence you have on them! That's why we always say. "THINK before you ACT"!

Treat others the way you like to be treated!

Overall, I hope this really went through you guys. And sort of gave you a hint of why we are wearing purple tomorrow and supporting those young men.
If you don't know what LGBTQ means or you have more questions, please feel free to ask.

    Island Man.

I am just replying to Ms. P's post about a poem we read in class today.

    Island Man poem.

Island Man (for a Caribbean island man in London who still wakes up the sound of the sea)
    by Grace Nichols

    Morning
    and island man wakes up
to the sound of blue surfin his head
    the steady breaking and wombing
wild seabirdsand fishermen pushing out to sea
the sun surfacing defiantlyfrom the east
    of his small emerald island

    He always comes back
    groggily groggily
    comes back to sands
    of a grey metallic soar
    to a surge of wheels
    to dull North Circular roar
    muffling muffling
    his crumpled pillow waves
    island man heaves himself
    another London day

I would like to wake up and find myself in the most mysterious place on earth.
I want it to be peaceful. A place where there's no hate and no two faced.
I would want it to be full of people, with wide smiles on their faces from the bottom of their heart. Real happiness; nothing can replace it.A place full of love, a place where it's OK to be different and not be made fun off.
A place where the sun rises, and feeds people's bodies with energy and brightness.
A place where there is no darkness.

Quote of the day. October, 18th 2010.

Don't make differences, don't be racist, cause if the heart is broken nothing can replace it.

    Khaleefa's Aamazing Presentation reflection.

I am replying to Ms. Pollock about Khaleefa's amazing presentation.

    4.
    * He treats us as if we are his younger siblings. He sits between us and makes us feel like he is part of our class.
    * The rap he did at the beginning of the class. It was entertaining and a great way of getting every one's attention.
    * The way his words flew, and they way he finds those combination of meaningful words and links them together.
    * The phrase in his poem "Don't look".
"He'd write till his wrists hurts, looking at his insert, it became sweet like a des-ert"

    3.
    * When he told us about his poem that's called " it's not a poem". I have read it and like he said, it not just words on paper, it's LIFE on paper.
    * He encouraged everyone to write and NOT be ashamed of what they write. Everyone should respect the capability of people.
    * The tip he gave us about the more you write the better you get.
It's true. The other day I looked back to the first poem I wrote last year and compared it to the one i just finished last week. There's a major difference!

    2.
    * Why is it that you prefer writing all night? Is it just the moment where the thoughts come?
    * Have you ever used any resource to find words that rhyme if you're stuck? And how long does it last if you're brain is blocked and you can't write?

    1.
    * He's a great role model because he encourages us to be proud of ourselves no matter how bad others think we are. He's also a great role model for those who are shy to preform in front of people.  It's a wonderful influence to show those folks that it doesn't take much to have the guts to preform in front of people as long as you're proud of your work.

Quote of the day. October 17th, 2010.

Friends grow like flowers, built as strong as towers.
Pick your flowers with care, cause beautiful flowers are able to transform into the most terrifying bear.

Quote of the day. October 16th, 2010.

Happiness does not shine at every one's door; it's takes turns.
Take the chance and do whatever you adore.

Quote of the day. October 14th, 2010.

You're the reason why I can't sleep every night, you're the first thing that comes to my mind when I close my eyelids, your smile is memorized in my head like building pyramids.

Quote of the day. October 13th, 2010.

    If hearts and brains spoke...
will people still take our feelings and thoughts as jokes?
Would they like it if with spot i replaced them?
See how disgraceful they are, useless like a bit of jam at the end of the jar.

Quote of the day. October 12th, 2010.

The heart is stronger than the brain. When the brain says,
"OK heart, stop the battle, and put your feelings down."
    The heart says,
"I am sorry, brain. I am going to fight for him until the last dawn."

Quote of the day. October 10th, 2010.

         That's what they think...

    Love is fake,
    liking is OK,
    hate is amazing,
violence is growing like a new born baby.

    Baby is said in love,
    honey is said in romance,
    crap is said in hate
    it's  fading the faith.

Why violence? Why hate? Why not smile and celebrate?
Celebrate the love between the hearts,
and break those walls that's keeping us apart.

Bullying Poem. (A reflection to the discussion we had in class about bullying.)

Strong people fight with their muscles and guns.
    Weak ones only run.
Smart ones fight with their brain.
    Romantic people kiss in rain.
Bullied people get all the pain, their freedom is caught between the chains.
    They jumped off bridges.
    Their veins bled.
They gave away their lives, and left enormous threats.
Does is matter they were lesb**n or g*y?
Stop being a predator that's haunting for a prey.

    Why do we bully?
    Can't we think carefully?
Before you speak, before you act.
    Remember, you have big impact.
Small words can turn into the biggest fears.
When respect appears, the pain disappears.
Don't be afraid. Drop those tears, the pain might fade.
I meant it WILL fade, just be patient, be strong like an FBI agent!
It will get better, if we work together.

    Some wrote letters.
Some gave away their life, and left no reasons.
Those dry seasons, when life gets tough.
Scream with the loudest voice. THIS IS ENOUGH!
Don't hurt me, i am not as tough.
    They have a life.
Does it matter if she was a female and had a wife?
They're still the same, stop making a difference, they're not insane.
They chose they're life like you did.
Some revealed, and some hid in dark jars and tightened the lid.

Now, respect every youth, younger or older, different of the same as you.
Everyone has the right to be happy and feel free.
    We all should agree.

Quote of the day. October 9th, 2010.

Smile for the ones that love you, it shows them you hate a big heart. Smile for the ones that hated you, proofs they're wrong. Smile for the ones that left you, it makes them feel guilty. Smile for life, and you'll pass the difficulty.

    Emapthy Assignment.

Feel how i feel, It's part of I we need.
Reach out eagerly, and empathize for the elderly.
Make others feel better, and you'll find joy in every letter.
Cut out the drama, and feel responsible like Barack Obama.
Responsible for every feeling, see the smiles revealing.
Stop being selfish, think of others, and what they would like to accomplish.
Empathy, part of it is a path, and the journey to it is as easy as grade one's math.
It's the easiest mission, it's in the heart, no need to worry about the weather conditions.
Feel for every kid, parent, and adult, and watch yourself be happy with the result.
Remember karma comes for good and bad, it will reach you even if you're in Islamabad.
Empathy was my lesson, it's your choice to make the decision.

    Student Of The Month Presentation.

I am replying to my teacher about what we liked about our presentation, and what we thought went well, and what we advice the classes next time.

    3
    • The sleeping idea was very smart, because it kept the people not presenting very silent. In previous presentation last year, other people would talk over the voices of the people presenting so it makes it very hard to hear what they were saying.
    • They skits went really well and no one messed up with their lines, and made it obvious like we did in the practices.
    • Claire and Jumanh did a very good job jumping into our dreams and made the presentation entertaining!
    2
    • The rap group should have went slower, cause  people didn't really understand what we were saying.
    • Teachers should be the one making the groups, because when the teacher allows the students to make up the groups, some people would be left out which is really hurtful for some students.
    1
    • Students should have enough time to practice and get organized!

Quote of the day. October 7th, 2010.

Multiply happiness, divide love, add friends, subtract haters, your life will be joyful if you work like a calculator!

    -Haneen.

    Emapthy rap.

Feel for me and I'll feel for you.
Understand me and I'll understand you.
Now, this month I'll be in your shoes and clear my heart like a clear sky in June.
Empathy works for me and you.
    It's deep in the heart.
you're not different, no matter who you are.
Let aim it we can reach the stars.
On their faces you see a ton of scars,
    yes those people in wars.
Why rich people care only about cars?
They got no shelter, no clothes, no food,
empathize for them, stop being a fool.

Wake up! Wake up! No time for a snooze.
Wake up! Wake up! And take a walk in some one's shoes.

    Behind My Name.

        Behind my name: Haneen

Before i started this assignment, i thought my name was, softness, because that what in means in Arabic.

I think my parents chose this name for me because they were happy to have me. But, to be honest, my aunt is the one who named me.
After searching on BabyNamesCountry, I learned that my name means "Happiness".
Some other interesting things i learned are, that my name comes from the name Hana which means "Happiness" in Arabic and "Flower" in Japanese.
I think  my name does suit me because I am a happy person, and i love making the poeple around me happy too.

If i could give myself a new name, it would be shark, because i am strong and courage. Overall, I don't hurt anyone until they hurt me first.

    Welcome Post.

Hello, friends! My name is Haneen. I am 14 years old, but some people say i look older. I love reading, writing, cooking and chatting with friends. I am very neat and organized. My favourite sports are basketball , soccer, and kickboxing. I am an emotional and a romantic person but i try to act Strong around friends. I am a very courage person about confronting the person in front of me.When i say something i mean it! I empathize for my friends. I reach out eagerly for new experiences in life. It's a pleasure that you have visited my blog. If you would like to know more about me please feel free to ask!

    A night of falling rain.

They fall like rain, clamp like chains, stab with pain, yes some friends. Trust or honesty can't defend. Hate is a virus that has been spread. Red is on the traffic light, no hearts are white, gray? Maybe. Black? Maybe. Let’s go back when mothers said don't cry baby.
Pause is pressed, rewind is pressed, confused whether I am in bad luck or I am just blessed. I stepped forward, no one respected, no one smiled, no one cared, and I was unexpected to be protected with my unbreakable wings.
I gave my treasure to all the kings; I took only one thing... A white heart that was a pleasure. They're seen on TV but in reality this is what we see, kids watch cartoon, women visit saloons, men play cod even in the middle of June.
They’re all defined as friends but the only difference is no enough confidence has been built in, there's only one definition: trust was given, love was given but my losers have failed the mission.
There’s only one condition. Want to win my heart? You don’t have to be perfect like a piece of art, I hated everyone who wanted me for what am I, love me for who am I.
Never stand against my black eyes. They’re daring but there related to a white heart, and a tongue that says words like apple pie. Understanding, feeling for others, with every act love is expanding.
